To play American Football you don't need to be big and strong as everyone thinks, there are positions for everyone kind of person. What you need is positive spirit & attitude, be committed, but most important of all, is you need to have fun!
Can I play for the Mariners?
To qualify to play for the Mariners you have to be enrolled on a course at the University or on a course at a University within our selected area, which in our case is Greater London. Of course you don't have to play, the team is looking also for people who are willing to help with game day management, stats, photography and cheerleading.
I have never played American football before, is that ok?
Every year we try to recruit as many new players as we can, these new players (rookies) don't have previous experience which is fine. In practice sessions the coaches will look at the individual players and evaluate the most appropriate position for each person. Once this has been settled, you will then train with the apposite coaches.
Where can I get the kit?
The Greenwich Mariners own all of the kit which includes pads, helmet and game pants. If you do not already own any of your own kit you will be given the chance to borrow the kit for the duration of the season, though you will have to buy your own game shirt. |
